Desalination

Desalination runs on its membranes. Prefiltration decides how long they last.

What the prefilter lets through cakes and clogs the RO membranes: shorter operating runs, more cleaning, earlier replacement, and a larger share of the plant's budget spent on maintenance. Gopani engineers the prefiltration stage to carry that load, so the membranes do only the work they were bought for.

Your process

Silt, colour and turbidity

Suspended solids and colloids that raise the silt density index and foul the membrane surface.

Organic and plastic waste

Organic debris, plastics and dead marine organisms drawn in with the intake, which cake and clog the membranes.

Bacteria and biofouling load

Micro-organisms that settle on the membrane and grow there, where a 1 micron stage adds a safeguard.

Hydrocarbons near shipping lanes

Oil from spills, heavy naval traffic and petrochemical activity, which coats membranes and cuts the plant's efficiency.

What stands behind the recommendation

Construction you can inspect

Clarywound 3X is CNC-wound into a multi-layered micronic gradient and is free from resin binders, lubricants, antistatic and release agents.

A certified quality system

ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing, with every product quality-checked before dispatch.

A trial on your feed water

The dirt-holding advantage is established on your intake: we run the element against your current one and log differential pressure until change-out.

What is not here yet

No desalination plant data is published on this page yet. The trial result is the evidence we will offer you, in writing.

Clarywound 3X for desalination prefiltration
ConstructionTrue multi-layered micronic gradient density, wound on CNC machines
Dirt holdingDesigned for up to three times the dirt-holding capacity of a standard string wound cartridge; confirmed on your feed in a trial
What it savesFewer change-outs and less spent-element disposal, in proportion to the dirt-holding gain your trial shows
MaterialsFree from resin binders, lubricants, antistatic and release agents
FormatCompact element for existing cartridge housings

Figures are design values from the product data. Your change-out interval depends on your feed and is established in a trial before a plant-wide switch.

Why does pretreatment decide RO membrane life?

Seawater carries organic waste, plastics, bacteria and silt. Anything the prefilter misses reaches the membrane and fouls it, which shortens operating runs, raises cleaning frequency and brings replacement forward. The cartridge stage costs a fraction of the membranes it protects; that is the whole case for getting it right.

How do you deal with oil in the intake?

Hydrocarbons from spills, shipping and petrochemical activity cake and clog desalination equipment. Clarysorb oil-adsorbing cartridges remove them as a preventive stage, installed after coalescing or bulk oil removal, so the membranes see water rather than an oil film.

What does higher dirt-holding capacity change on the balance sheet?

A cartridge that holds more solids before it reaches its change-out pressure is changed less often, which means fewer elements bought, fewer change-out hours and fewer spent elements to dispose of. Clarywound 3X is designed for up to three times the dirt-holding capacity of a standard wound cartridge; your real interval comes from a trial on your feed.

Do you supply bags as well as cartridges for seawater prefiltration?

Yes. ClaryFil polypropylene bags in 5 to 25 micron are specified ahead of the cartridge stage on seawater and brackish water, where they take the bulk solids and extend cartridge life.

Bring us your SDI and your change-out log.

Feed analysis, flow, current element and how often it is changed. We will propose the staging and a trial that shows the change-out interval on your own seawater.
