How does prefiltration actually extend RO membrane life?
Membranes foul from suspended solids, colloids, and biological load that prefiltration should have removed. Correctly staged prefiltration brings silt density index and turbidity down before the membrane, which stretches cleaning intervals, holds flux, and defers replacement of the most expensive consumable in the plant. The cartridge spend is small against the membrane spend it protects; that arithmetic is the whole selection logic.
Bag filters or cartridges for water treatment duty?
Both, staged. Bags take the bulk solids economically at high flow; cartridges do the fine protection work behind them. Where flows are large, high flow elements at up to 500 GPM each collapse the element count and the change-out labour. We size the stages from your flow and solids data.
What removes dissolved contaminants like chlorine and organics?
Activated carbon stages: ClaryCarb blocks and granular carbon, plus specialty media where hardness salts or heavy metals are the target. Carbon protects downstream RO membranes from oxidation as well as polishing taste and odour in product water.
