Water touches every process in the plant. So does whatever it carries.
Sediment, organics, bacteria and oil foul membranes and force cleaning and replacement. Solids and minerals in feed water scale boilers and cooling towers, cut their efficiency and bring on descaling. Fines and migrating resin beads compromise DI water. Gopani stages prefiltration and adsorption so each use gets the water quality it needs, at a cost per cubic metre you can see.
Where does water work inside your plant?
RO and membrane feed
Feed to RO, microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes that make purified and product water.
Boilers and cooling towers
Feed and make-up water for boilers and cooling towers, where dissolved minerals and solids deposit as scale.
DI loops
Deionisation systems, where trap filters stop sediment and migrating ion exchange beads.
Cleaning, rinsing and make-up
Water for heating, cooling, cleaning, rinsing and product make-up, at a consistent quality.
Water reuse
Blowdown, RO reject, rain water, grey water and treated sewage reclaimed for new uses in the plant.
Discharge
Effluent and discharge streams cleaned to meet environmental limits before they leave the site.
Which stage does which job?

|---|---|---|
| Bulk solids at high flow | ClaryFil filter bags, Clarymatik self-cleaning filters | Downstream cartridge life |
| Membrane prefiltration for RO, MF and UF | String wound, melt blown and pleated cartridges | Membranes from fouling, through low SDI and turbidity |
| Chlorine, organics, colour and odour | ClaryCarb activated carbon | Membranes and product water quality |
| Oil in water | Clarysorb oil-adsorbing cartridges | Membranes, boilers and discharge compliance |
| DI loops | Cartridge trap filters | Water quality against sediment and resin bead migration |
| Biofouling risk | 1 micron cartridge stage | Membranes from biological growth |
| Housings | FRP, Clary-T stainless, Polyfilt uPVC and Plastofilt PP housings | Uptime in the water's chemistry |

What does prefiltration do for a membrane?
It removes suspended solids and larger contaminants before they reach the membrane, taking the filtration load off it. String wound, melt blown or pleated cartridges form the line of defence, which reduces fouling, extends membrane life, and cuts the maintenance and replacement bill.
Why prefilter ahead of microfiltration and ultrafiltration as well as RO?
Microfiltration membranes have pores of roughly 0.1 to 10 micron and ultrafiltration membranes are finer still; both foul on the same suspended solids, colloids and biological load as RO. A prefilter stage protects them the same way, and extends the interval between cleans.
What does filtering boiler and cooling tower feed water save?
Less scale means boilers and cooling towers run efficiently for longer, need descaling and maintenance less often, and can use less energy and fewer treatment chemicals. We size the stage from your water analysis.
Which water streams can be reclaimed?
General wastewater, cooling tower and boiler blowdown, RO reject, harvested rain water, grey water, and treated sewage. Filter elements, activated carbon and reclamation systems make them fit for new uses in the plant.
