Power & Energy

In a power plant, element life is measured against the next outage.

Iron, copper and silica carried in condensate end up as scale and corrosion in boiler tubes, lost thermal efficiency, and deposits on turbine blades. Solids in feed and cooling water scale the equipment and bring forward the next descaling shutdown. Gopani engineers the prefiltration that holds each circuit inside its specification until the outage you planned.

Your process

Condensate polishing units

Prefilters ahead of the polishers in sub-critical and super-critical units, taking out the suspended solids that high steam and condensate velocities generate.

Boiler feed water

Rust, scale and suspended matter removed from feed water before it deposits inside the boiler.

Cooling towers

Make-up and side-stream filtration against the solids that drive scaling, corrosion and blowdown.

Steam ahead of the turbine

Steam filtered before it reaches the turbine and the equipment downstream of it.

RO and high-purity water

Prefiltration that protects the membranes making demineralised and high-purity water for the boiler circuit.

Hot water and condensate recovery

Depth pleated elements for condensate water filtration and hot water recovery, so recovered water goes back into the cycle.

What you can hold us to

Published datasheet limits

Both CPU prefilters carry stated limits: a maximum of 82 C, 3.0 bar forward differential pressure at 65 C, and a design flow per element. Your engineers can check them against the polisher's operating envelope before a trial.

Sealing support at installation

Technical assistance on positive sealing in your existing housings, because a bypassing prefilter protects nothing.

A year of elements, on schedule

Scheduled deliveries against your annual element requirement, planned around outage dates rather than emergency orders.

What is not here yet

No station performance data is published on this page yet. We establish element life on your condensate in a trial, and we will put that result in writing.

What does a condensate prefilter actually remove?

Suspended solids, often called crud, generated by high steam and condensate velocities, including iron, copper and silica. Removing them ahead of the condensate polishing unit keeps them out of the boiler, where they cause tube scaling and corrosion, and out of the turbine, where they plate the blades.

String wound or pleated for condensate polishing prefiltration?

Both are built for it. Clarywound CPU is polypropylene yarn on a stainless steel core, rated 1, 5 or 10 micron nominal, with a design flow of 2.2 to 2.8 m3/hr per element. Clarypleat CPU is all-polypropylene and thermally welded, rated 1, 5 or 10 micron absolute, with a design flow of 3.5 to 4.5 m3/hr per element. The right choice depends on your housing, your crud load and the rating your polisher needs; we recommend after reviewing the data.

Will the elements fit our existing CPU vessels?

Clarywound CPU is designed to fit pre-existing filter housings, in lengths up to 70 inch and with a range of thread connections. Send us the vessel drawing or the current element's end fitting and we will confirm the match before you order.

Why prefilter boiler feed and cooling tower water?

Solids and dissolved minerals in feed water deposit inside boilers and cooling towers as scale, which cuts efficiency, drives corrosion and forces descaling. Prefiltration keeps the equipment running longer between descaling, and can reduce energy use and treatment chemical consumption. We size the stage from your water analysis and flow.
