In food and beverage, the filter is the last check before the consumer.
Physical, chemical and microbial contamination that gets past filtration reaches the bottle, and the plant carries the liability. Haze, sediment, spoilage organisms and off-odours cost clarity and shelf life before they cost a recall. Gopani supplies filtration in sanitary housings for each stage, from product water to the filling line.
Where does filtration touch the product?
Clarification and polishing
Coloured beverages that need polish and shine, and staged filtration that keeps aroma and flavour while taking out haze.
Stability and shelf life
Colloidal and microbiological stability for beer, wine, juice, soft drinks, aerated beverages and spirits.
Product and wash water
Water for the product and for washing, with RO membranes protected by the prefilter ahead of them.
Culinary steam
Steam that touches the product in cooking, blanching, retorts, bottle and cap sterilisation, and keg sterilisation.
Tank venting and gas
Hold tanks, product transfer vessels and nitrogen blanketing, in dairies, breweries and wineries.
Taste, odour and colour
Activated carbon for odour, taste and decolourisation of product and process liquids.
Which filter does each stage use?
| Stage | Gopani range | What it protects |
|---|---|---|
| Clarification with filter aid or pads | Clary-T sparkler filter (vertical filter press), zero hold-up design | Product yield and clarity |
| Depth clarification | Depth filter modules in Clary-T LF lenticular housings | Clarity on high-solids product, large filtration area |
| Polishing and shelf life | Clarypleat PES and depth pleated cartridges | Colloidal and microbiological stability |
| Gels and agglomerates | Clarypleat TMP thick media pleated cartridges | Product appearance |
| Product and wash water | Melt blown prefilters, stainless steel housings | RO membranes and wash water quality |
| Taste, odour and colour | Activated carbon and carbon cartridges | Taste and odour of the product |
| Culinary steam | Clarysynt sintered metal elements in 316L stainless steel | Product contact points |
| Tank vents and gas | Clary-T Vent housings with hydrophobic vent filters | Stored product and tank integrity |
What the datasheets state
Sanitary housing design
Clary-T Sanitary housings are built from 316L stainless steel and stated as built to 3-A sanitary standards, documentation on request, with fewer welds, code 7 bayonet locking against bypass, and tri-clover or ASA connections.
Vent housing finish
Clary-T Vent housings carry an electropolished internal finish of Ra 0.4 micron or better, designed for low hold-up and maximum product recovery.
Contact materials
Silicone and EPDM O-ring options on vent housings; food-contact documentation for the O-rings and pleated cartridge components on request.

This page carries design data, not plant results. Ask for the datasheet and certificate behind any line before you specify.
Applications and products for food and beverage
Food and beverage filtration: direct answers
Which beverages do you filter?
Beer, wine, water, soft drinks, juice, aerated beverages, spirits, and food ingredients. Each needs a different staging between clarification, polishing and final filtration; tell us the product and the defect you are fighting and we will propose the stages.
Why sintered metal for culinary steam?
Culinary steam touches the product, so rust, scale and oil residue from the steam system end up in the food. Sintered stainless steel elements hold their structure at steam temperature, do not shed fibres, and can be cleaned and reused, which gives fewer change-outs than disposable polymer or fabric elements in the same duty.
Do you supply sparkler filters as well as cartridges?
Yes. The Clary-T sparkler filter, a vertical filter press, is used for clarification where a cartridge or bag would not be a sustainable solution. It takes a range of filter media and can be designed for zero hold-up.
Name the product and the defect.
Haze, sediment, short shelf life, off-odour, or a steam or vent problem. Tell us where it shows up and we will propose the filtration stage and the housing it runs in.
